Description
Wheat-colored China silk dress with smocking details at neck, waist, and sleeves; bateau neckline, smocking coming to a small point in center front; gathered torso, giving a full, balloon effect to bodice; dropped shoulders with full sleeves, and cotton thread floral embroidery at the cuffs; smocking and gathering at natural waist; gathered ankle-length hem; hook-and-eye metal closures at the center back from neck to waist; decorative buttons at center back. The dress was donated with a note indicating it was acquired at Liberty in London. Made for an adult female in the 1920's.

Minimal spots of abrasion on lower part of skirt; half an inch of fraying on left back of hem; all of fabric is faded; brown, rust-colored stains on skirt back and front; smocking is very well intact.
